Medical Care for Cystic Fibrosis patients at the Dead Sea area began in
1994, as significant rise in oxygen saturation, improved lung function
and subjective well being were documented in a pilot study on 73
patients. Since then many European patients spent 3 weeks in a Winter
Camp at the Dead Sea, and appreciate this CF treatment modality.
Since 2000, the DMZ Medical Center receives from the CFA Organization,
in Germany, (CF-Aktiv e.V.), groups of patients in a regular basis
during the months of November to February. (Please see the web site www.cfi-aktiv.de / www.cf-initiative-aktiv.de or write to info@cfi-aktiv.de)
Quality of life, enjoyable surroundings, physical activities,
physiotherapy and proper medical care in an oxygen rich environment
represent the major targets for the personal, at the DMZ.
During the whole stay, Cystic Fibrosis patients are subject
to medical control and guidance, in an atmosphere far removed from that
of hospital. The medical staff is easily available, while the presence
of other patients suffering from the same disease facilitates social
contacts.
Psychological counseling, nutritionist, group therapy and complementary
medical services are also available, and they contribute to the
successful holistic management of the various disease entities treated
at the Dead Sea.
The medical team requests a summary of the medical status of each CF Patient prior to arrival in order to confirm treatment.
